Update
from Ethiopia
This month we are
excited to share the launch of a new
effort for student guardians has begun!
Working with
15 adults each at SSCM Vocational
Training Center, Deganet Kirkos
Center, and YTH Gulele, this new
pilot program has potential to
help those with lost employment
opportunity due to COVID to train
for something new, with the goal
of allowing them independence and
higher standard of living.
By combining
efforts with Hope Arising Charity, D
Lawrence Penner, and Canadian
Humanitarian help for guardians to be
educated in self-reliance, financial
planning, business training and start
up financing has begun.
If you are
interested in being involved in this
exciting effort, contact
us for more information.
Guatemala
SERniña Update
With schools
in Guatemala still closed due to the
pandemic, our partner SERniña (by
REALgirl) continues to innovate to
meet the critical needs of the boys
and girls in their program. In lieu
of their normal after-school
workshops, they are creating
engaging empowerment magazines which
cover the majority of their core
themes including menstrual health
and violence prevention.
Over the past month, they have been
meeting with parents of each
participant, one at a time, to
explain their new offerings and how
to support their child with their
remote-learning magazines.
